I have just purchased my second Honda HRH 536 QX, as finally the gear box has gone on my original. What is amazing is the first one was purchased 22 years ago !!! now that really is value for money. Its been heavily used both on formal lawns where it gives a lovely stripe and also on rough grassland like in the orchard and its taken it all in its stride. Lets hope this next one lives up to the reputation of the first. I did look at other makes but nothing seemed to come up with the goods to challenge the Honda 536.
Oh and just incase anyone is wondering, yes I'm sending the old one back for a service and to see if they can sort out the gear box, because the engine still starts second or third pull.
Very pleased with my new mowers. We have gone with Honda again as it probably the best all round machine for reliability and robust build quality.
Engines are strong and only let down by the gearbox after about 4 seasons.
We usually get them refurbished and they last a bit longer. The last two were 2019 machines and have finally given up. They have a hard life here and I don’t think any other make would cope with the amount of abuse that they take.
We had the same problem as the above reviewer but a phone call to Sam Turner solved the problem without any need to call in a specialist and pay £25. Sam Turner were brilliant.
Had to pay £25 for expert to work out a sticking button switch was stopping engine start up
