Slightly damaged in the box on delivery but it was only the blade guard broken at the end.
It took a lot of starting up where I had to follow the manual for an hour.
All good now.
My old, 10 year old trimmer finally died, after several replacement parts over the years. Sadly, a failure of the recoil was beyond my fixing capabilities and so, after a decent amount (for me) of research, I bought the Stihl HS45. I bought it new from Sam Turner as the price was really competitive. I specify new here as I toyed with buying a second hand one on a well known internet auction site but for the additional 20% cost, it just made sense to buy new, so competitive was the price.
Ordered, shipped, delivered in two days - no hassle and the trimmer is excellent. Took a little convincing to start first time but eventually did and has started fine since. I like the lock feature that basically keeps the trigger depressed meaning you have both hands free to stabilise and start the trimmer. It is relatively lightweight but more importantly that weight is well distributed so the machine is balanced to hold. It had no issue chomping through some pretty decent conifer branches.
I wanted to shout out Sam Turner’s customer service too. My trimmer arrived and the blade scabbard was damaged on arrival. I messaged, got a response on a weekend and a new one shipped to me, no hassle. Great comms on the delivery timeframe and the new scabbard has rocked up today, in tact. You never know how good a company is until you need something and Sam Turner played my query perfectly. Happy to recommend both ST and the Stihl. It’s Stihl early days (sorry, couldn’t resist!) but I’m a happy boy so far.
